When Ethel was 3 years old and Clarence was 5 years old they went next door to visit Grandma Shove. Grandma was sitting in her rocking chair on the front porch and the children couldn’t get her to talk. They started to leave and Grandpa Shove came around from behind the house and asked why they were leaving so soon. They said, “Grandma won’t talk to us.” Grandpa knew something was wrong and found that Grandma had died in her rocker.
