Marian, Lulu and Wilbur’s little girl, was a flower girl for Lucy and Mel’s wedding. Right after the wedding she got spinal-meningitis and died and was buried before Lucy and Mel got back from their week long honeymoon. This was very difficult for Mel as Marian was very fond of him. Lucy feels losing Marian made it difficult for him to let himself get close to his own daughter.
