Lucy had been in San Jose for nursing school and came back to Ceres for a visit with Ethel. Ethel knew Lucy would want to go to a dance that was being given so she took a special dress that Lucy kept in the very back of her closet and put it in her house for Lucy to use. Lucy was wearing something that just wouldn’t do for going to a dance. Grandma Aldrich had amazing intuition and checked in Lucy’s closet at home and discovered the dress missing. She then got upset with Ethel for providing Lucy with the dress as opposed to getting after Lucy for going to the dance. Lucy said that Ethel usually got into trouble and Lucy was spared as if she didn’t have the brains to know better.
