“Oh, no! Here comes Donna with her tape recorder. I must be at the end of my life, and she is trying to preserve our family stories and history.” This is the reaction my sister often would encounter when she came visiting with her tape recorder. That feeling soon dissipated and some wonderful stories would bubble up. The recordings on this site are from those special visits.
These are the raw recordings that many of the stories from this site are derived. It’s special to actually hear the actual voice of a relative now long gone. Our hope is to eventually transcribe these audio files to written files. If anyone wants to help in this endeavor, please contact Donna Shreve (shakeybike@aol.com), so that we don’t duplicate efforts.
I am initially just putting the audio files up, in no particular order. Eventually, I will organize the files along family lines.
