Swagerty/Boone Videos, 1960-1961
A family friend, Stu Larson, smells a magnolia bloom from our backyard tree at our Calhoun Way house in Stockton, CA, in 1960.
The community swimming pool, just three houses from the Swagerty’s family house, was finally finished by the summer of 1960. The Swagerty family of Floyd, Melva, Donna, Brian, Jane, and Grant are enjoying the watery fun.

Grant Swagerty is playing in his back yard on Calhoun Way in 1959. He’s hitting at bees with a cardboard tube. He later gets a mouthful of water and spits water at them. Amazedly, he never got stung.
Brian Swagerty and his Cub Scout den compete in an obstacle course in the Swagerty backyard in 1960. His mother, Melva was the Den Mother.

This is Donna Swagerty’s eighth grade graduation in 1960. She received a transistor radio as a present, which was quite a deal then, as you didn’t need to plug it in! In order of appearance are: Donna, Brian, Jane, Grant, Elmer, Pearl, Elmer’s sister Alice, and Melva Swagerty.
This is Grant Swagerty’s first day of school in 1960. Notice Grant’s jeans. They are cuffed at the bottom at least 4 inches, and he has to wear suspenders to hold them up. Clothes were bought with the anticipation of rapid growth. The school is Tully C. Knolefloyd’ss, which was a couple of blocks away from the Swagerty home is Stockton, CA.
